This new employee has already begun to conquer the world and is now arriving in French-speaking Switzerland. It is called RPA or digital worker.
The Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is becoming a must for all companies looking to eliminate inefficiency and reduce costs.
Its efficiency, adaptability and ability to perform tasks that were previously too complicated to automate, have led to a new revolution in the last two years.
Robots have the power to connect systems directly or by integrating cognitive tasks. Imagine a user sitting in an office chair and accessing information from one, two, three, x, systems with which it must interact. Through this image what we must try to understand is:
- What information needs to flow between systems?
- What do the user interfaces look like?
- Are there any cognitive tasks to be taken into account between the transition from one system to another?
- What triggers the need to move information between these systems?
The RPA initiative generally begins with a PoC. It will provide you with a confined approach in which one or two processes will be robotized in a test environment, usually within the boundaries of a single department or business unit. The PoC will aim to demonstrate:
- The technical compatibility of the RPA solution with the existing IT landscape.
- The ease of development and functional efficiency of the RPA solution.
- The selection of the optimal RPA editor.
The PoC is generally easy to make. The next step will be the global implementation accompanied by a centre of excellence with a transversal vision.
