Context and challenges
Our client is a key player in the energy sector. He wanted to migrate its Jira Server instance to Jira Cloud, and implement Atlassian Access for SSO and two-step verification. The following objectives arose during the preparatory phase that preceded the Jira Cloud migration:
- The streamlining and optimization of licenses
- The securing of the target environment (without losing data)
- The preservation of functionalities, with a focus on the Xray plugin (test management)
- The reduction of downtime for teams
- The use of dashboards for monitoring projects
Our approach
In order to successfully migrate our client’s Jira Server instance to Jira Cloud, our teams broke the project down into several main steps:
- An audit of the Jira Server instance to define the scope and to recommend the proper migration methods
- Preparation of the source environment
- Preparation of the target environment to receive the data (users, settings, system verification)
- Implementation of Atlassian Access
- Migration tests and client validation
- Planning of the migrations and division of the projects
- Completion of the migration via the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant
- Assistance and support following the successful migration
Advantages
Thanks to our support throughout the project, our client was able to:
- Optimize its licenses
- Facilitate and secure the administration of its JIRA tool
The project allowed the company to migrate:
- 80 Jira projects in 2 batches
- 431 active users, without any losses of data.
