RIMOWA is one of the world’s leading premium luggage brands. Since 1898, the company has been manufacturing luggage with a light structure and extreme stability. Inspired by the golden age of aviation, the parallel grooves of their aluminum luggage have become a cult.
Context and Challenges
Within RIMOWA, 12 teams use Jira and Confluence differently: workflows, fields, ticket types, etc. These different practices do not allow them to follow the progress of their teams and thus obtain an overall view of the projects’ status. Another difficulty is that Atlassian skills are disparate across projects and users. This slows down the progress and communications between projects and teams.
During this project, they wanted to benefit from our expertise to improve their tools with the following elements:
- SSO Implementation
- Confluence Uniformization
- Cleaning up the technical debt of the configuration
Our Approach
In order to solve these problems of homogeneity and alignment, we conducted an audit of the existing system and proposed a new organization:
- Migration of 24 Jira projects to a new template.
- Support of the teams to facilitate the change through several master classes with more than 30 participants.
- Atlassian platform cleaning
- Configuration and use of the Confluence solution
- Implementation of Atlassian Access
Benefits
Following these improvements, RIMOWA’s teams were able to benefit from:
- Simplification of the use of Jira with a more understandable platform configuration
- An unloaded Atlassian platform
- An optimized organization of Confluence
- An identical ticket life cycle for all projects to better control processes
- An improvement of the collaboration between the teams
- Improved KPIs
- Better understanding of how Jira and Confluence work and are used.
